My Glam Bag: December Edition

MyGlam is the first makeup-related subscription I've signed up for and it just started up this month. I'm not too sure how other subscription boxes work, but MyGlam bags are 10$ a month (with free shipping) and sent out to subscribers towards the end of a given month. I received mine on Tuesday, the 13th, but I did hear about people getting theirs the day before.

Admittedly, I am quite impressed with December's sample offerings, as everything together ends up being worth a whole lot more than ten dollars. However, I realize that this is nothing to complain about, but I don't actually like the bag that the samples came in. I will likely find use of it, but it feels rather cheap compared to the free ones I got from Target. Anyway, it's what's inside the bag that matters. This month's bag featured three full sized products along with great samples.

  • Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Sin - shimmery champagne that applies like butter with wear that lasts; great for an inner corner color
  • Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes! Mascara - black mascara; haven't fully tested it, but it's alright so far
  • NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in San Paulo - berry pink that applies like a silky cream but dries down matte; kind of smells like vanilla butter; tasteless; didn't find it all too moisturizing, but it's great for layering under gloss on exfoliated lips or alone for that stained look; wear is pretty great through eating, some color will come off from rough rubbing
  • Mai Couture Blush Papier in Sunset Boulevard - I didn't like this color, I'm sure Prettyful or Uptown would've looked much more flattering; this orange just made me look dirty and the product itself was somewhat difficult to work with
  • Urban Decay Original Primer Potion - I actually prefer the older genie bottle packaging, but this product wasn't something new for me; it is a staple primer for my eye makeup; it looks nude but applies smoothly with a clear finish on the skin

The main reason I opted into a subscription was because the samples were actually products I'd use. December's bag came with three full-size products from Urban DecayNYX, and Mai Couture. The other samples of Urban Decay and Tarte were generous too. I'd never heard of Mai Couture, and it was interesting to try the blush papers, despite how gimmicky they seemed. Also, I'm glad I ended up with a pack of blotting paper instead of the blush because I wouldn't have used them after yesterday's trial run.

From what I've gathered, there are slight variations with certain items. The color of the attached mirror in the glam bag (unsure of this one), the color of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream, and whether or not you got a full size booklet of Mai Couture's Blush Papier or Blotting Papier. My Glam set up a great start to my first subscription experience, so I hope they maintain this level of quality products in the coming months as well.
