MUFE Aqua Cream in #21

Make Up For Ever's Aqua Cream in #21 is a great product. It's pigmented, versatile, and holds up to its waterproof claims.

Rock & Republic Luxe Lip Gloss in Muse

Back when I was more aggressive about collecting Rock & Republic eye colours, I decided to try out one of their lip glosses on a whim. It was about 8$ for what usually went for about 26-28$ retail.

Lancôme Bi-Facil Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover

Lancome's Bi-Facil is easily the best makeup remover I have ever tried. It's quite the splurge at 26$ for 4.2 oz, but the quality of the product really makes it worth it for me.

sealed

The first dual-phase makeup remover I tried was Clinique's Take The Day Off Makeup Remover For Lids, Lashes & Lips--which I liked, and it is a cheaper alternative. But I can't get over the extra qualities Lancome's remover has. There's a soft floral scent that's pleasant and isn't overpowering. Since it's a dual-phase product, it does require shaking before use. Some people might not like that aspect of it, but I personally need it for waterproof makeup removal.

Customer Service Rant: Karens Closet NY

Let me preface this post by saying that I am not usually one to openly complain about a company. I shop online quite frequently and I've dealt with several shops that only sell online where I've experienced bad, average, and outstanding customer service. Yet, this was the first I have come across one that is extremely unprofessional in my eyes. I have considered keeping the experience to myself, but I also feel that it is necessary to at least put this information out there. Please note that the following is to be taken as a thorough attempt at an honest retelling of my experience with the website Karens Closet NY and is not meant as malicious or slanderous content to misrepresent them in any way.

On June 25th, I ordered a pair of Bamboo Driven Black Nubuck Platform Cage Wedges that cost me 46.17$ including shipping. I had no tracking information other than an automated order status update from the website two days after the order was placed. But according to the Delivery Confirmation number on the parcel, it was delivered on July 5th. I obviously can't prove when the package was sent out, but the point is that it took more than a week to arrive, which is understandable. I had left for Chicago at the end of June and was unable to open the parcel until the first week of August when I was back home.

Upon opening the box, I received wedge heels that were similar to the ones I thought I ordered. The pair I received were by Qupid, which is not the Bamboo brand I ordered, and they were in a size 8 instead of a size 7. I was surprised that I was not notified by this unauthorized change with the fulfillment of my order, but didn't think this was a big deal until I tried them on. They ended up being far too big and weren't even close to the size of my feet where it would've been manageable. Slightly frustrated, I called the customer service phone number and was answered by a Google Voice answering machine. I left a message and expected a call back by the next day but decided to fill out the online "Contact Us" form on the website. This was my initial message to them:

I received a response quite promptly (as it was through a Blackberry phone).

This is a standard, generic response, which actually isn't that bad, but completely infuriating as a customer. I understand that I was requesting something beyond the scope of their return policy, but they were not even trying to be accommodating. I didn't even get an apology for receiving shoes that I didn't even order. Am I the one in the wrong right now? It's not like it would have been any different even if I opened my parcel as soon it was delivered because I would have still returned the shoes. Karens Closet NY messed up on their end of our transaction and I was just supposed to deal with it?

Shot of the Day {New Header}

F

I changed the header! I'm not very good at photshoppin' so, yeah.. the little circle thing on the left kind of looks silly. But the size of this one is much less overpowering, I think!

ManGlaze Matte is Murder

I know that liking matte is a trendy thing, but I don't care, I love the look of matte. ManGlaze is a Chicago (!) based company that makes the best matte nail polishes I've ever tried. I currently have a new released color on right now called Mink Mitten and it is awesome. But the one I'm reviewing today is a matte black called Matte is Murder that was 7$ online.

Matte is Murder comes in a boxy bottle wrapped in a thick, matte paper sticker. It also has art by Jason Atomic of a sexy lady and a crazy one. Formula-wise, it is wonderfully pigmented and applies looking like a shimmery black. It dries down fairly quickly (as mattes tend to) to a smooth matte finish but has iridescent sparkles. It kind of reminded me of a toned down nail polish version of Sugarpill's Stella. The iridescent glitter is really subtle--it's like super micro glitter, which keeps the color from being a boring solid matte.

Lime Crime Lipstick Rainbow

Coquette
No She Didn't

I got some Lime Crime lipsticks during a flash sale a while back and decided to post up photos. I don't know if I will review these more in depth in the future because I don't like how some of them look on me, haha. I'll probably use them in looks though, we'll see! In the mean time, I hope you enjoy these photos and swatches.

Urban Decay Eyeshadows in Gash and Jones

"A diet is too little of a good thing."

This will be the last post of Urban Decay reviews and swatches in anticipation of their HauteLook sale in ten hours. By the way, it feels nice to post good reviews of their products on here. Seriously, these last three posts include products that are all worthy of the raves.

Urban Decay Afterglow Powder Blush in Score

Score was another HauteLook purchase from back in March. It was 5$ for 0.13 oz of product and is a great blush. People who don't like talc in their blushes should stay away though, as it is the first listed ingredient.

Urban Decay Matte Eyeshadows in Electric, Chronic, and Narcotic

Get ready for the Urban Decay sale on HauteLook tomorrow morning! I thought it might be helpful to post some reviews and swatches in case you decide to indulge. I got these three matte eyeshadows from HauteLook myself, so maybe they'll show up again.

Alex Box FOTD for Nymphette

makeup by Alex Box

Nymphette has a Face of the Day Challenge Calender every month where each day has a different theme. I love the idea as it really encourages you to play with makeup more often. This was my first time attempting a day, and today's theme was Alex Box. I actually didn't know who she was until I Google'd her, to be quite honest. I have, however, seen plenty of her makeup work, just never knew she was the artist behind it. Anyway, here is my wannabe rendition of the makeup she did in the above photo.

One Piece Sailors Lovers Ring from Soy Fashion

I was browsing Soy Fashion back in June when I saw these One Piece rings and felt like I had to get them. One Piece is one of my favorite mangas and I like nautical themed jewelry.

Night Pea

Thank you everyone who gave me such gracious comments from just a screencap! (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ I wish I could hug all of you! It was all really encouraging for me to keep practicing makeup in my free time. Here are the promised photos that I mentioned in last week's Stila feature.

Sun Moon Stars Trio Eyeshadow in Paradise Love from Vincent Longo

I picked this trio from a HauteLook sale and mildly regret doing so. I thought the packaging was really pretty and couldn't resist. ಠ_ಠ

LORAC Eye Shadows in Garnet, Inspiration, Black, and Lush

These are the last of the LORAC swatches I have for you!

LORAC On Screen Duo in Champagne & Caviar

LORAC is on HauteLook today, so I wanted to get some swatches up in case they're helpful. The only Duo I see online is the black one in Fame & Fortune, but if it's anything like the other two I've tried, it's a great deal (2$) for a good eyeliner and highlight color.

LA Splash Crystalized Glitter in Phenomenon, Pink Delight, and Tantrum Teal

Pink Delight

Ulta had a buy two, get one free deal with these a couple weeks ago and I nabbed three bright colors.

Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Lashes

I wanted to try out a high end mascara, so I went with a Lancome one that was released recently. It was 25$ and is available online at Sephora.

Zoya Rica

Pressed Eyeshadows featuring Aromaleigh, Fyrinnae, OCC, and Sugarpill

UNII Palette (left) and Freestyle Palette (right)

A while back, I spent quite some time on pressing some loose eyeshadows that I own. I like crafting in general (cross-stitching and scrapbooking), but I did not know it would be so time consuming!

Urban Decay Revolution High Performance Lash Curler

I wanted to like this lash curler so badly. I own awfully straight lashes that basically refuse to curl and I constantly pinch my skin from regular eyelash curlers. Just from seeing the design online, I was excited at the prospect of finally finding a lash curler that works.

Guest Post at Stila

I recently had the chance to be a guest over at Stila's blog and my post went up yesterday. I'm a little sad that they only used two out of the nine photos I submitted, but I guess now I can post the others myself. Or maybe a guest look just wasn't something they were looking for. Anyway, I'd love to know what you think of the look! I'll post additional photos next week.
